About Cone
Professionally, I am all about Software. I have coded it, compiled it, interpreted it, tested it, debugged it, chased it into the weeds, developed it, managed it, validated it, architected it, deployed it, implemented it, installed it, billed for it, funded it, staffed it, sold it, couldn't give it away, took it to the Olympics, taught it, hired it, fired it, started it up, shut it down, taken it to the bank, never got to the bank, paid off the bank, cursed it, blessed it, and prayed over it.
Privately, I'm a husband and father, a gardener and artist, a salsero and a traveler.
On this site I'll share the things that interest me. This is a very broad topic, and one I hope will interest you.
I have traveled quite a bit, and I'll share some of the highlights - tours, sights, restaurant, and shops that are special and unique. I'm an artist, and I'll share my art in all its forms.
Professionally, I'll document to some extent my journey thru the world of Software, share favorite experiences and people, and some of what I've learned along the way. Software has given me a life richer that I could have imagined. There is the internal richness of the code, its pleasing structure, how cool it is when it works well, the pleasure in a well thought out data architecture. Through all this, I've had the good fortune to be on a Hollywood set, ride ocean-going tugs, climb around refineries, explore the Olympics with an all-access pass, package pharmaceuticals, ride freight trains, and find new drugs. Best of all, I've worked with some of the finest, sharpest, most fun people in the industry. To all of you, THANKS! Larry Cone
